Making Your Business Stand the Test of Time




The following are major factors that should be properly looked into if you don’t businesses to fail, these are more often overlooked. Its important to ensure that all these points are properly understood and put in place as this will go a long way in ensuring that your business stands the test of time.

Have enough resources made available.
Proper testing of the viability of the business.
Good negotiation skills.

1)    Have enough resources made available.

In other to have or run a business successfully, there has to be enough resources made available and these available resources have to be properly managed. When the resources available are not enough, it can affect the business as it can lead to it failing.

2)    Proper testing of the viability of the business.

One of the factors that are very important and can determine how profitable the business will be is viability test. There is need to always check how viable a business will be overtime given that all resources are made available over a period of time t. A business that is not viable is one that will fail on the long run and should never be considered at all.

3)    Good negotiation skills.

In any business there is need for you to be able negotiate and persuade all prospective customer to buy your products and services. You should be able to from time to time discover new ways of making your product and services remains in the minds of your prospective customers.

4)    Proper practice of human management skills.

A successful business is one that has the capacity to properly manage people and customers (both internal and external customers) in every way. When a business lacks the ability to properly manage customers (especially their expectations and different characters) it can result to loss of all customers and sales as one badly treated customer can make you loose more than ten more customers, which will lead to the failure of such a business.

5)    Good decision making skills.

          How successful you and your business will be is a function of the type of                       decisions you make. Decision making skills are important skills to be acquired               if  you want to succeed in your business. Good decision making skills lead to                 more growth, success and profits while poor decision making skills lead to the 
          failure of the business.

6)    Having the right set of personnel on your team.

In other to run a successful business, it is important to have the right set of teammates on the team. The team should be composed of people that are ready to think out of the box in order to add value to the business and make it more successful than it might have been. Having the wrong set of people on your team can lead the the failure or end of such a business.

7)    Being able to properly manage people, resources and activities needed to succeed in the chosen business.

In business, being able to properly manage people, resources, and all other activities and tasks in other to yield results is key. This is why much emphasis should be placed on good resource management another for the business to succeed.

8)    Teamwork.

Team work is very important in making any business successful. Business has to do with being able to coordinate and delegate activities that will help grow the business. Working hand in hand with different people, teams and when you are not able to work with your team it leads to you not being able to do or perform specific tasks that are needed to succeed in the business.

9)     Be focused.

          Concentrate on satisfying specific customer needs and ensure you.                           don’t loose focus no matter what happens. Being focused actually makes                   your business have more customers and this also leads to its increased                         growth. Not being focused creates an impression that you don’t have an                       idea of the needs of your customers you want to satisfy and this leads to                      your business failing. It is very important to avoid all forms of                                         distractions.
 
10)  Proper funding.

           An important factor to consider in business is how it will be properly funded                  and if the method of funding can be sustained.
 
11)  Understanding all the technicalities involved in the business. 

     Proper examine, study and know how to properly implement all the technicalities involved in making your business succeed. Its important that you properly understand all the modalities involved in running your chosen business.
 
12)  Satisfy customer’s needs.

          Satisfying customer needs is the basic reason why businesses are established. It            is really important to know that any business that is not aimed at satisfying the              needs of her customers will definitely fail and will never at any point in time                 succeed. You must first serve before you start making profits.
 
13) Be proactive. 

     Always learn to anticipate new ways of doing things and learn to prepare for       challenges that will arise at different points in the business.
 
14) Flexibility is key to success in business. 

     If you want to grow and succeed in business, you must be open to change. At any point in time you have to be able to do things differently from time to time. It is important that you find ways of improving the quality of the goods, products and services you provide to your customers as a business.


15)  Pay attention to customer complains.

          Customer complains actually give you the opportunity to actually improve on             the quality of service you provide to all your customers. When you don’t attend             to customer complain the way you are meant to it will in most cases affect your
          business negatively.
 
16) Be unique and stand out.

           You have to differentiate your business from that of the competitors, its                          important you standout and have a brand for your business. Trying to copy                    your competitors will end up making you loose your customers, you will                        actually be making the same mistakes they are making.

QUALITIES OF A TEAM PLAYER





The word team player simply put refers to someone who is a member of a team. A team is made up of a group of people coming together to achieve a common goal. The importance of teamwork cannot be overemphasized as all we do in life requires teamwork for them to work out the way we want them to. E.g. Family life, relationships, marriage, our work even in the church.
The following are essential qualities needed to be acquired or possessed by a team player in any team that hopes to achieve its common goal.

1)     PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS

 

In other for you to be a good team player, you need to be able to develop the ability to solve any type of problem. Must master the act of problem solving as this will be needed for teamwork.

 

 

 

2)     BEING COMMITTED

 

The main essence of having different teams is to bring together a group of people (team members) that are all focused on solving a particular problem or providing useful suggestions on how to resolve major issues affecting them or their immediate environment, either at work or other places. To achieve success as a team, there is need to have a group of people working together who are dedicated to a particular course no matter what happens.

 

3)     BEING SUPPORTIVE AND RESPECTFUL

 

Team players are meant to be able to have each other’s backs no matter what happens. Everybody in the team is expected to have mutual respect for one another. Recognizing and appreciating their individual strengths, weaknesses and being able to work together using these strengths to achieve a common goal as a team.

 

4)     BEING FLEXIBLE

 

A team player is not meant to be stereotyped in thinking, if you can’t change that then you most likely will not be able to work together with other people as a team. In the light of this, the need to be flexibility is important in other to be able to work together and arrive at achieving a common goal as a team. Flexibility simply put has to do with your being able to adapt to change in the way you think, view problems and provide solutions to resolving a problem or achieving a common goal.

 

 

5)     BEING AN ACTIVE LISTENER

 

Every team player needs to have active listening skills. This is a very important part of communication as it will not only determine how well you will be able to share your ideas and communicate with other members of the team but will also be useful to the team in helping to achieve its goals.

 

6)     BEING OPEN TO PEOPLE AND WILLING TO HELP

 

In any team, there must not be any element of secrecy, all members of the team are meant to be open and share all their ideas openly.  A team player should be ready to entertain all ideas (new ideas) no matter how senseless or unreasonable and as much as possible try to make meaning from all those ideas.

 

 

7)     BE RELIABLE

 

Every member of the team must be trustworthy, everybody should be able to trust themselves and their abilities to work together to achieve common goal.

 

 

8)     HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS

 

The need to be able to properly express yourself or pass your

suggestions, ideas or contributions to other member of your team is very important and it is one of the major factors that can affect the performance of any team. Good communication entails, being able to pass your message across to other team members in clear and simple terms thereby making it possible for the common goal of the team to be met and achieved.  It also has to do with being able to carry other team members along and also your ability to properly understand their messages, ideas, suggestions and contributions. The absence of good communication in any team leads to conflicts, serious setbacks and inability to be able to achieve that common goal as a team.

 

 

9)     BEING CO-OPERATIVE

 

Being able to work hand in hand with other team members is key to being a good team player. Each member of the team must be united and be able to collectively perform all the tasks required in order to achieve the goals of the team.

 

10)   BE READY TO ALWAYS PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN YOUR TEAM

 

This involves being ready to contribute your time, energy and even playing your own part in the team. You have to at any point in time, to make important contribution and decisions together with other team members in other to achieve that common goal.

 

11)    BE DEDICATED

 

A team player is someone that naturally has the zeal to do all it takes to enable him achieve a particular goal. In a team, team players need to have that required zeal, staying power and persistence to be able to arrive at that collective goal.

 

12)   BE GOAL ORIENTED

 

As a team player, you always be goal oriented, you have to at every point in time be able to see the big picture even from the beginning. This majorly involves you seeing the goal to be achieved and being able to do all it will take or require together with other members of the team to achieve that goal which could involve serious contribution of time and energy.

 

13)   ALWAYS KEEP TO TIME

 

Team players are good time managers, this is because they are meant to plan their time in a way that the team will be able to achieve and meet major deadlines within a particular period of time. This has to do with being able to properly put your time to good use, being able to achieve all you set out to achieve within a particular time frame and because team players are goal oriented, they are always good time managers.

 

14)   EXHIBIT A HIGH LEVEL OF DISCIPLINE

 

Being able to basically adhere strictly to the rules guiding the behavior of the team, its members and activities. A team player must be able to restrain from any activity that will undermine the efforts of the team to meeting its common goal.
